The members of Soroptimist International of Washoe County have
chosen community service projects based on the needs identified to
be of primary importantance in our community.
Our current projects focus on: Youth and Women’s Issues.
Through Kids Kottage
and our Totes for Kids programs, Soroptimist of
Washoe County is committed to supporting the youth in our community.
Whether
we are providing children
with a fun day to forget their troubles
and just be a kid, or reminding them that someone cares by letting them
know that
they are important, these projects are near and dear to our
member's hearts!
Our focus on women’s issues is supported by our local award programs,
our participation in the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, and by pro-
viding senior women in need with a surprise gift box filled with a Walmart
gift card, greeting cards, office supplies and stamps.
Additional needs, such as providing financial support for children to attend
the Donner Springs Journey Camp, are met with funding provided by the
generous giving of members through our "Dollars from the Heart" program.
Also, we are proud to donate to organizations such as the Food Bank of
Northern Nevada,
Ronald McDonald
House of Reno, and the Committee-to-
Aid-Abused-Women
(CAAW).
